Henry Ford himself drove only one race, on October 10, 1901. He beat Alexander Winton at the Detroit Driving Club, a one-mile dirt track at Grosse Pointe, Michigan in a ten-mile race. His winning time of 13:23.8 or 44.8 MPH won him $1,000 and a cut glass bowl that he kept in his home as a trophy.
