All those yellow barrels on highway, some filled with sand... “Fitch Barriers”.   A collection of yellow crash barrels have saved an estimated 17,000 motorists lives. During WW II, Fitch flew a P-51 over Nazi Germany for the Army Air Corps, which is now call the Air Force.  Flying for the 15th Bombardment, Fitch flew missions to bomb German supply routes before flying B-17s over Germany.
