Born 1893 in Alsace-Lorraine he came to America in 1896 at the age of 3. The family soon relocated t...o Redlands, California.
In 1919 Eddie opened a garage in Redlands, CA. He participated as a driver until 1926 when a severe accident at Legion Ascot, convinced him to concentrate solely on his racing business.
In time the Meyer Engineering Garage in West Hollywood, a few miles from Gilmore Stadium, was the place to go for V8-60 engines, and speed equipment. He started campaigning midgets as an owner in 1946 joining the URA Red Circuit. In 1948 he captured the AAA Pacific Coast Championship with Bullet Joe Garson driving. Eddie offered great opportunities for drivers like Sam Hanks, Johnnie Parsons, Manny Ayulo and Earl Motter.
His racing was not limited to just midgets, Hydroplane Boat Circle Racing was big in the Meyer Family. He, his son and grandson all have set world records in the same class of Hydro’s. If you go to Sparks, Nevada you will find the Eddie Meyer Engineering Museum.
Eddie passed away in 1983 at the age of 89 years young
