At the time of his death in a Sprint Car at Salem, Indiana on July 21, 1990, “Rapid”Rich had sco...red 95 Midget, 35 Sprint, and four Championship Dirt (Silver Crown) wins.
He won five National Midget Championships, two Sprint Car titles and placed in the top three of the Silver Crown series three times. He dominated the Indianapolis Speedrome, where his father was killed in 1981, and he captured the track Championship twice.
Rich competed at Indy five times and finished 8th in 1989. He won the “Hut Hundred” eight times, the “4-Crown Nationals” midget event four times, the “Hoosierdome Invitational” twice, the “Copper Classic” twice and the “Night Before the 500” once.
Rich also won the National Alliance of Midget Auto Racing title in 1973, The WWRA “Florida Winter Nationals” in 1983 and the “Chili Bowl” in 1987.
