Eddie Jackson started his racing career in 1951 at Englewood Speedway in Denver, Colorado driving st...ock cars. In 1956 he decided to give midget racing a try and purchased his first car for $7000.00 from Lloyd Axel. It wasn’t long before he was winning; he scored his first midget win at Lakeside Speedway in Denver under the CARC sanction. In 1957 Eddie finished second to Foster Campbell in the CARC Championship bid. He was a great mechanic and did all his own chassis and engine work in his first years of competition.
He started traveling, running down in the Utah area he won the 1958 Intermountain Championship, a midget club based in the Salt Lake City area. He toured the Midwest in 1959 till an accident at Peoria, Illinois ended his season. Before that he had passed his rookie test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but the car failed to qualify.
He garnered his first of many Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association Championship title in 1960. He ran second in points in 1961 and took the Championship again in 1962 and 1963. He later sold his car to Vern Shaver and continued as his driver winning three more RMMRA championships in 1967, 1968 and 1970. He scored 77 feature wins in RMMRA events and drove for car owners Harry Conklin, Chuck Mauro, Ray Koch, Frank Peterson and Vern Shaver.
Eddie was the winner of the Inaugural Belleview Midget Nationals in 1978. While racing at Craig Road Speedway Las Vegas in 1982, he was badly injured. He passed away from complications of this accident in 1983.
